At the Isis - more portraits with my trusty 50mm

We hit the Isis Farmhouse again this afternoon in the snow - second time this weekend - and the barn at the back was bathed in white light and beautifully empty when we arrived.  I've been wanting to take some photos there for a while (one side of it is completely glass, and has minimal decor - unpainted plaster walls, long wooden tables and chairs), so after procuring necessary mulled wine and beer, I had a play while Chris tried to read and the Bee looked out of the window at the snow and nibbled on a danish pastry.  Some favourites below.  A really beautiful location, and perfect light for portraits - would love to photograph more people there, so get in contact if you'd like to model.

Green Gathering 2011 - festival photography

Wooo for there being a long-awaited Green Gathering in August 2011!  Maya and I were lucky enough to head there on a spontaneous trip as wannabee roadies with my friend Jo and the band she plays with, Seize the Day (yum!), arriving on site at 3am on Friday night, via Peace News Camp.  At a time in our lives when spontaneity had somewhat dwindled (tough with a little person, though some peeps manage it), this weekend was just what the doctor ordered, and it was fantastically liberating to head to a field with lovely people and good vibes.  Personal highlight had to be the solo sunrise wood fire powered shower in a grove of old oaks, care of SAMS Magic Hat (thank you, Sam, for that occasion, and many, many others).  My offerings from the festival are pretty limited, as I was too busy lazing to do much else, but a few of my favourite photographic offerings from the weekend are below.

Tickets and info for this year's Green Gathering can be found here, and here is the fuller set of pics from the festie if you want more.  A beautiful festival - see you there in 2012.

Alison - professional head shot

A couple of weeks ago, I spent an hour working with Alison to create a professional head shot for her new business.  We had hoped to do the shoot at the Oxford Union (lots of options with very different light and great background options - see another pro head shot shoot I did there here), but access was limited that day, so after a bit of head scratching, we headed to the newly redone Ashmolean Museum.  The Museum is worth checking out purely for its light and architecture, let alone its contents - and after trying some shots in different places, we found the light we wanted on the steps outside the cafe - fantastic bright white light, plus bit of interest created by the diagonals of the hand rails.  Great to identify another reliable location in the town centre (ideas for new ones always welcome - just drop me a line :) ).  Results below, and thanks Alison for a fun shoot, and for following me round the museum!
